I did a quick calculation - total speed 450k divided by the 34 peers I am connected to - and it looks like the average speed is 13.23 k/s... so I am assuming I'm above average (on the good torrent) unless I read something wrong.
That is a fairly slow speed. I've had well over 100k/s sustained for many torrents. But that may be a slow torrent. Torrents also tend to gain speed as more people get more of the show. (If there are 34 peers each with only 10% it will be slower than 34 peers with 70%.)

Check your hardware configuration, and if you have some sort of personal firewall setup. There are loads of great FAQs on the net with details of how to configure a firewall for the most speed out of a BT download.

Good luck!

For the Darien Lake torrent, I was pushing 200kb/s, which isn't typical for me. If I can get 50-80kb/s I am doing alright.

what! I have NEVER gotten speeds like that, not in any of the places I've lived! On some Sharing the Groove torrents I have topped 75 k/s, but only with a VERY few torrents.

I have been as high as 35 k/s on my "fast" torrent and I thought that was good because it's twice the average. Maybe it's a Halifax thing? I've lived in three places in the past two years here in the city and I have never gotten 100 k/s...and my computer isn't exactly a piece of crap. It's two and a half years old, but it's got a 1.5 GHz processor and a cable internet connection...this is quite confusing to me!

One question....where do you get these ultra fast torrents? Is there one particular network that is good for fast torrents?

STG and etree.

Your download is proportional to your upload, so perhaps you have capped it lower than the maximum. Check that out, and keep trying.
