I downloaded this awhile a go...as in a long while ago. Anyways I didn't get the other show, but recently my cousin did. So we're going to swap. Problem is I can't rip about half the songs off of each CD.
What happens, is it gets retardedly slow ripping the song, then stops altoghether and gives me a "cannot complete...blabla..turn error correction on."
So...yeah I'm using Windows Media player to rip this stuff. Can anyone tell me how to turn error correction on?
And if worse comes to worse, would someone be able to wire me via msn or something, the songs that I can't rip? (Cause...I'd really like the London show )

Try using Exact Audio Copy for ripping cds (just google for it). It's the best audio ripper available.
Are you referring to the shows that were officially available through livedownloads.com, or the audience recordings that were torrented?
Yesm the livedownloads concerts. I'd obviously just download them again, but like hell I'll remember the passwords or confirmation IDs or whatever they use to recognize that you've already purchased the show.

I'm not sure they had any codes or passwords. I believe you had a 3 day period to download and after that you're out of luck.

From your first post, I assume that you bought the Ottawa show, your cousin bought the London show, and now you're ripping a copy of Ottawa for your cousin, and he's doing the same for London for you.....
If that's the case, this community doesn't really approve of official material being traded like that, and I'd suggest not posting about it here.
Here's a link to London's audience recording that was traded on the tracker.

agreed. its probably less hassle to just pay for the show anyway. its a killer value for $10.

I don't have a problem with it. What if I traded for unofficial material? Were recording devices allowed into that show? Is that legal? How boud downloading it on the internet? Downloading anything from the internet without paying?
It's not like I'm passing this off to all my friends. I'm doing a simple trade up, one for one. And it's not like I haven't paid for all the songs in the London show already.
If you guys think it's so wrong, then don't post here. I had fair enough warning in my original post if you guys thought that it was that wrong, nobody had to point me to those links.
EDIT: I forgot to add, here you are, telling me I'm doing a wrong, and that the community frowns on it, yet you link me to a torrnet of the London show. You don't want me to get it for free because it's trading and it's illegal, yet you link me up to a free download. So regardless, I'm getting a version of the London show. For free. How legal is that.

It is legal, because it is an audience recording of that concert, not one which was recorded by the Tragically Hip, and put up for sale on livedownloads.com. Here is a link to obtain the London recording you are talking about trading for. http://www.livedownloads.com/show.asp?s ... &artist=23
Why don't you set up this trade with your cousin....Your copy of Fully Completely for his copy of Phantom Power, a simple trade, one for one. It's the same thing.
I'm not sour about it, it's just that I would be really dissapointed if the hipbase got shut down, because it's members used the discussion boards to obtain officially released material illegally.
From your "edit", it occured to me that you are not familiar with what is official, and what it unofficial.
The Hip allow & encourage their fans to record their shows & trade them, either through the internet using outlets such as the hiptracker, or doing 1 for 1 trades (like you & your cousin.) As long as nobody profits from those fan recordings, it is allowed (I can't record a concert, then sell copies on ebay for example.)
In the case of the livedownload.com shows, they were recorded by the band with the intent to be put up for sale. They are equivalent to the Hip's live album "Live Between Us", except that the Hip sold those 2004 shows through livedownloads.com, instead of pressing cds.
When you post here, asking for someone to msn you the tracks that you cannot rip, from a recording that was officially issued by the band, it would be the same as asking someone to rip the last half of "Live Between Us", which would be wrong, and could result in the shutting down of these message boards.
The initial link I presented to you, was to a fan recording that was made in the audience of the London show. Same show, different recording from what you are looking for. There are over 300 shows available for download on the hiptracker, but not 1 of those recordings was ever officially released by a record company, or by the band.
I don't know how to make this more clear. I'm not trying to pick a fight, just trying to keep it legal, so we can continue to enjoy the hipbase.
I'm sorry man, I don't...really...care if what I'm doing is illegal or not. You can't sit there and tell me I can't do that because it's illegal, then tell me to go download the same show from a torrent. That's total hypocrasy to me.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, nor any understanding of the word hypocrisy.
Same show. Different source for the recording. When I say different source, it means a different person recorded the performance while they were at the venue. Their recording was made with no profit motivation, and with consent from the band. Furthermore, the band allows and encourages fans to freely trade the recordings made by fans.
srb has made the point explicitly clear but yet you continue to scoff at him and his suggestions. You are the hipocrite in this conversation; a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he does not hold. You profess to be a fan of the band (affirmed by your membership at Hipbase and ownership of at least one of their albums) yet you clearly are not as you are soliciting aid in the commission of a crime against them.
Thank you for correcting me on my minor grammatical error. /sarcasm
I'm aware srb made that clear. It's just that, in my mind, all legal issues aside, downloading a torrent for a show that is available as an official download is just as "wrong".
I'm sure there are people here who have both the London and Ottawa shows and have not paid for either of them.
And please don't insult my fan-ness of the band, that is incredibly offensive.
There are plenty of people here at the hipbase who got the Ottawa & London shows for free. They are the ones who downloaded the audience recordings from the tracker, and I'd bet most of them went and bought the livedownloads.com soundboards too.
I guess the bottom line is if you don't want to support the band, then you're not going to, regardless of what I or anyone else writes here.
