When all 'the poetry of the earth'
Might be all there is
It might still have some worth
Yeah but I can't dance to it

I can do the same thing I did last night if anybody who is going is willing and doesn't have a smart phone.

I saw them @ The State in Aug. of '98 and there were, maybe, 300 people there. It was weird since the capacity, I think, is around 1,200. AWESOME show though! Hopefully there are a few more tonight.mookytc wrote:Real curious regarding the turn out for tonight's show. I have family in Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft area. Love Maine and would love to see the Hip there.

Interesting that we've seen a couple from WATS and still not the lead single LIAF. Also, Rink is fucking awesome live.ikky99 wrote:f**k. f**k. f**k. Take Forever, Coffee Girl, Rink, NOIS/Nautical/NOIS, Fiddlers. I may never forgive myself for missing this one.curwin wrote:At trans

Not even close to the 1400 capacity. Unreal show. Great setlist. 12th hip show and first in the u.s. was almost surreal to get second row back as he doors opened. Everyone I talked to had seen the hip at least 10 times. Now for the 4 hour drive back to NB. Snowing and all 3 of us work at 8 tomorrow. Gord was less
Animated as stated in the previous sets but singing was great. Gord Only played acoustic on nois streets ahead and abac. See you in Moncton....

Good morning.
Yes a great show last night in Portland Maine! A very small but energized crowd. I was told they had sold 400 tickets. Not many more people there last night then when we first saw them there in August of 1998. This makes our 37th Hip show with another one coming on Friday night in Boston and then next week in Clifton Park and Syracuse NY.
We had like 25 friends at the show and met a number of folks from Canada including a couple from Montreal and their young son who was maybe 7 or 8 and this was his 3rd Hip show. They were in the front row and I saw the young boy leaving with Johnny's drums sticks which is awesome. Billy Ray was kind enough to give me the whole setlist and then I inturn gave the setlist to my friend Sonny who had just gotten out of the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Sonny you sure were a trooper to even make the show.
The highlight of the night was the first Fiddler's Green of the tour! The new songs came off quite well in concert but we sure enjoyed hearing a wide variety of the old stuff. They are doing a good job of mixing up the setlits so far this tour.
I would write more but time to get to work as Gordie would say!
HIP HIP HIP!

The show certainly had some great moments. When we first arrived there were so few people there that I felt terrible for the band. We did our best and brought a lot of newbies. By the time the show started there was a decent showing of people in the lower section. I think the balcony was closed as it was totally empty. The crowd might have been small but the energy level was great with the crowd trying to give the band it's due. We spoke to one girl from Nova Scotia who was experiencing her first Hip show. Imagine being Canadian and seeing them with so few people your first time. Lucky!! Bob was a crazy mainiac dancing through the crowd in his Maine Hockey shirt (having a blast). If you were there...he was hard to miss!! It was so nice to see the band at home (in Maine). I sure missed Canadian friends Chris and Mark!! Looking forward to 3 more shows. Hip Trip!!
p.s. regarding items noted in previous messages...Billy Ray WAS present...and Gord WAS animated but not as energized as in the past. He seems tired.
