Here is a nice soundboard recording.
Let me know if that will suffice or if you would like me to rip the audio for you.

Actually, this is what Downie had to say:
Paul's sister got married, and Paul and I sang at the wedding. This song was just sort of starting to take shape at that time. The wedding sort of kicked it into high gear. Writing for an occasion is always preferable. That's always good. But the occasion to write a song for someone is pretty rare. Gord Sinclair brought the music in for this and we were performing it often on Roadside last year.
Long Term Membership. It's like, eventually you have to affiliate with something it seems, right? There are always these forces drawing you to affiliation and allegiance. [The river], that's a valid allegiance. It's not like the Kiwanis but it's got its restorative effects for you. It's got its powerful, cool aspects and people are drawn to rivers. Everyone can relate to this theme. I hope it conjures a location for people. Gord Downie

Does anyone have a copy of the complete video of this show? It was filmed and broadcast on a US cable channel at one time, if memory serves my correctly.Tthip wrote:Here is a nice soundboard recording.

Actually only 2 of the songs were ever broadcast in their entirety, as far as I know.Dire Wolf wrote: Does anyone have a copy of the complete video of this show? It was filmed and broadcast on a US cable channel at one time, if memory serves my correctly.
This was, I think, a half hour special called "Live at the Fillmore"

This song appeared in early 97 and was called "THE RIVER" I have a copy of them doing membership in Winnipeg 97, this song version was a little different and had alternate words. Save the planet also was played and called "MAN ACROSS THE STREET"
