I actually downloaded it from Etree, so unless anybody else wants it (I wouldn't be surprised) don't worry about it Chris. If someone can explain to me how to upload it to the tracker myself I'd love to share.

A. Come on, it's so easy to find the answers by searching, but instead you take the time to send me a PM and ask a question which I've answered a hundred times.
Here's a simple how-to that I wrote for creating .torrents and seeding:
1. In the folder that your Bit Torrent client downloads new BT’s into, create a new directory into which all of the compressed (FLAC or SHN) or DVD files will be processed. Name it “YYYY-MM-DD – City Name, Province/
State (substitute the details pertinent to the show your will be seeding)”
2. Create a text file that contains the details of the source/venue/
equipment used/person who taped show, and a complete setlist. Name
this file “YYYY-MM-DD – City Name, Province/State (substitute the details
pertinent to the show your will be seeding)” and save it into the directory
created in step #1.
3. Start your compression program (FLACer, xACT, FLAC Frontend, etc)
and select the audio tracks (WAV or AIFF) that you want to compress. Or start your DVD ripper software, and select the DVD you want to rip.
4. Choose the folder you created in step #1 as the output destination, and compress your audio.
5. Start your Bit Torrent creating software.
6. Choose “Create a Torrent” or similar.
7. Select the directory you created in step one as the folder/files you
want to torrent.
8. The tracker/announce URL is “http://www.thehiptracker.com/announce.php”
9. Save the torrent with a file name that is identical to the folder name
you created in step #1.
10. Log on to http://www.thehiptracker.com and select “Upload Torrent”
from the menu.
11. Choose the torrent file and the text file you just completed and enter
a basic description.
12. Select a .torrent type and click the “Upload .torrent” button.
13. Finally, in order to seed your show, start up your Bit Torrent client
application and open the .torrent file that you just created/uploaded to
the tracker. It should take care of itself from there...
Nevermind I got it, lol

This is an actual PM I received...Q. I'd like to put a show on the tracker..I know i could read about how to do it in the forum somewhere, but I just don't have the patience..could you give me a quick overview? I was also wondering if I had to convert the files from mp3 to..flac or shn..thanks in advance.

The instructions have changed slightly:
1. In the folder that your Bit Torrent client downloads new BT’s into, create a new directory into which all of the compressed (FLAC or SHN) or DVD files will be processed. Name it “tthYYYY-MM-DD – City Name, Province/State (substitute the details pertinent to the show your will be seeding)”
2. Create a text file that contains the details of the source/venue/equipment used/person who taped show, and a complete setlist. Name
this file “tthYYYY-MM-DD – City Name, Province/State (substitute the details pertinent to the show your will be seeding)” and save it into the directory created in step #1.
3. Start your compression program (FLACer, xACT, FLAC Frontend, etc) and select the audio tracks (WAV or AIFF) that you want to compress. Or start your DVD ripper software, and select the DVD you want to rip.
4. Choose the folder you created in step #1 as the output destination, and compress your audio or rip your video.
5. Start your Bit Torrent creating software.
6. Choose “Create a Torrent” or similar.
7. Select the directory you created in step one as the folder/files you want to torrent.
8. The tracker/announce URL is “http://www.thehiptracker.com/announce.php”
9. Save the torrent with a file name that is identical to the folder name you created in step #1. ie. "tth2004-10-15 - Minneapolis, MN.torrent"
10. Log on to http://www.thehiptracker.com and select “Upload Torrent” from the menu. Or just go to http://www.thehiptracker.com/upload.php
11. Choose the torrent file and the text file you just completed and copy the contents of your text file as the description. Complete the fields as per the onscreen directions.
12. Select a .torrent type and click the “Do It!” button.
13. If successful you will be shown a success screen, and then the torrent details.
14. Finally, in order to seed your show, you need to download a new .torrent file from the tracker as it personalizes the file to you and your account. Once you've downloaded a new .torrent file, start up your Bit Torrent client application. Open the .torrent file that you just downloaded. It should take care of itself from there...

Chris, this is becoming increasingly frustrating. I've completed all steps as it says; however, when i go to the upload page on the tracker it doesnt give me an option to upload entire folders, only individual files in those folders. Help?

Which application are you using to create the .torrent file? The .torrent file is what should be uploaded to the tracker.mojo_mattv wrote:Chris, this is becoming increasingly frustrating. I'm using the "publish" feature in Vuze.

Alright, well I found the torrent file that needed uploading, but obviously something is still not going right and now I'm getting this message
"Upload failed!
What the hell did you upload? This is not a bencoded file!"

This error message means the .torrent file wasn't created properly.mojo_mattv wrote:Alright, well I found the torrent file that needed uploading, but obviously something is still not going right and now I'm getting this message

I'm not familiar with Vuze, but I did find these instructions online. I've edited them for thehiptracker:
1. File > New Torrent
2. Tick “use an external tracker”.
--> Put this in the tracker box --> http://www.thehiptracker.com/announce.php
3. Select single file or directory, click NEXT and point to the file or directory you want to share, and click NEXT
4. Tick “private torrent”
5. Do not tick “allow decentralized tracking”
6. Save the torrent to your hard drive.
Give this a try and see if you get the same error when uploading the .torrent file to thehiptracker.

I'm pretty sure that I've gotten it all figured out, or at least I did until I hit "do it" on the upload page and I got this error message:
Upload failed!
invalid announce url! must be <b>http://www.thehiptracker.com/announce.php</b>
I've set the torrent to upload to that URL, but obviously something's wrong...
