And thanks Dana. You provided me with the perfect "and now you may shut the hell up" response to a dude who sent me a nasty e-mail saying I made up the song just to make my website seem cutting edge. I assured him nothing about my website is cutting any edges, and sent him the link as the perfect capper. Dana rules, no doubt about it.

Took some getting used to at first, but after abusing Dana's bandwidth a bit... I'm digging the bass work and Gords fluctuations and screaming near the end. And yeah, I hear "digging a hole" a bit as well.

New unreleased song - As far as I know, performed live only once recently at Salmon Fest.

ok, you guys are killing me . . . as far as I know, only released at the end of one preview video... it sort of sounds like the crappy side stage audio from the preview video. . . though now, it's probably been compressed twice ... cause you'd have to rip the file and then save it again as an mp3. So you're compressing a compressed file. . .

I'm not mad by the way and I should have been clearer, I could mark the physical files I put up, put up some small legal type copyright mumbo jumbo text that ya'll have to squint to read etc. but I didn't.

I've been expecting the videos audio to get ripped and to fight this battle of control over how my files are distributed - bit of a control freak sorry - and I know it will be an ongoing battle and I would appreciate all the help I can get.

The other side of the coin, is that I lose the battle, I don't get to release the great stuff I have and will get more of, and then you guys have to wait, or worse, don't get to see it at all, or in a format that is not as accessible as the web is and can be.

Here's the deal: I would appreciate if people did not make copies for disribution of my files until I release them on thehip.com, or I upload them, or I say go ahead. Once I release them, then I would REALLY prefer you sent people to the source of the files for downloading, then posting them on your own server. If you want to tape your own show, and distribute your files as I like to do with mine, then feel free to do so in the method you choose, but again, please don't do it with mine.

Copyright is one of those things that as a web/interactive/media user/designer/thinker, I have a love hate relationship with, for obvious reasons I would hope. I think the hip are really fair as a band and let their fans do a lot. Now they're letting me do and make and release all this great stuff. If you have a copy or know how to make a copy of these files, please do not distribute them or make them publicly available, or actually, even alter them unless there is a creative commons license on them that says you can.

I can't and won't try to stop people from doing certain things that I can't control, help, keep an eye on or care about, but the mp3 file above, for example raises a couple of flags to me that I want to address before it get's out of control. Just so people know what I expect.

For example, the file above: If it is from my source, then I don't really want it publically available without the video. The recording is not great, obviously, and those that don't know where it came from might think something I don't want them to - not today perhaps, but tomorrow. It's probably not labeled well etc. Sorry if it is, but I haven't checked . . . I do want people to see it online, and hear it and know a little about the background of the package as a unit, in this case.

If an individual makes their own .mp3s and carry it/them around and use them for their own pleasure, then I can't stop or control that, nor do I really care about it. But, as soon as you make my file public in a way or a place that it was not intended for - ie you put it on a server, then I care. I don't want to see some files distibuted in a certain way for different reasons. It's a respect thing.

So unfortunately, I suspect this particular file to fall under the illgotten category and would like it to be taken down please. I will be posting an edited version of the video and audio together soon.

I just want the files to go out in a certain way, they way I intend(ed) them to go out, for a multitude of reasons, some personal, some for the sake of the band etc.

Because I'm not finished working on this file and I'm still messing around with it, I do not have a final release. I might even add some stuff. Once I do, I will release the file on thehip.com. If there is a call for the file to be released in another medium/format, then the request will be considered, but I might not have the quality for the type of file etc., or god knows what reasons thee might be for not releasing something.

There is a process that I follow and would like everybody else to follow (with my files at least) as well. I know it is hard, and you don't really know me that well, and it's so friggin easy to do and put out there if you know how, but there is method to my madness I swear and I think it will be worth it in the end. I have only good intentions, I can assure you.

If you can honestly say that this audio is not ripped from my vid, then by all means, do what you want and I'll shut up with my rant now, but, as I haven't seen or heard another copy out there, I HIGHLY suspect that this is from the vid I posted . . .

Anyways, that's my two cents and no hard feelings - I just want to do things right and at the same time, want to provide you guys with as much material, as soon as I can. If we can, as a group, as individuals and as a community, come to an understanding, then we will all benefit, believe you me.
