My project and I don't even have a file with a cover example for the compilation. I have three discs (discs 5-8) that were never released, I'd like to make covers for them but I need an example of what the covers looked like...

Actually - I have disks 5, 6 and 7 so you must have released them sometime.
Would my scanning of the cover be good enough for what you need?

Back in 1999/2000, a guy who used to hang around alt.music.tragically.hip (or whatever it was/is called) called FearNoArt, was responsible for the early Hip vids being shared on the net. I'd get new stuff and ship it to him (Kumbaya Festival video, PinkPop, Full Fledged Vanity, etc.) and he'd convert it at school and distribute it. I came up with the idea that I wanted to make a compilation of all rarities and rants. I love the rant/song "Lofty Pines" so I called it "Let's Gather 'Round The Fan" because we were all huge hip fans on the newsgroup (just like here). Fear and I culminated our collections and scooped some stuff from the early FTP that he used to help run. I ran everything through SoundForge and cut out the good stuff. Fear made wicked covers using photgraphs I had taken of the band during the warmup shows for M@W and we released the first five discs. I made discs six and seven later on and apparently passed them out because some of you have them. I'm going digging in my crawl space this afternoon because I know I did an eighth disc that had some cool rarities like a super cool (probably the first semblance of it) rant that turned out to be Locked.
I met FearNoArt (Jason in "real" life
) only once, at the GD solo performance at The Steamwhistle; we had made tentative plans to hook up again when I moved back to Hamilton (I think he was from Burlington...) but I haven't heard from him in a long time...wonder what ever happened to him...

Very cool story. I remember downloading video clips labelled FearNoArt from my early days of downloading.rocketsan22 wrote:Back in 1999/2000, a guy who used to hang around alt.music.tragically.hip (or whatever it was/is called) called FearNoArt, was responsible for the early Hip vids being shared on the net. Fear No art (Jason) was a pretty cool guy - I wonder what ever happened to him.
He is the first person I ever traded with - and he helped me build my collection as it is today.
I traded him an old 1995 video I had - and he gave me some stuff - and the rest is Hipstory.

Jason was going to college for graphic arts, hence the LGRTF covers, he did an awesome job on them. I'm pretty sure he was at Sheridan...does anyone have contact with him?
The old FTP he ran was awesome especially for those of us with VIP access
