.WAV is an audio format.
.AVI is an Audio/Visual Interleaved format.
.vob is a specialized MPEG-2 format for DVD.

What audio files are you referring to? The converted .vob files? If so, the .vob contains audio and video, hence the need to extract it to .avi. The second part of your query... a .vob file is a "merged" audio & video format, highly compressed via MPEG-2.

The working files for the Toronto ACC DVD I recently completed occupied almost 50Gb! For another project I am working on, one of the audio tracks alone is just over 2Gb. So aside from tech knowledge and skill, you really need the hard drive space and processor power. (I'm on a G5 Mac, 250Gb hard drive, 768mB DDR RAM... more wanted)

I would suggest you do more research into the process before attempting it as it can get very complex, and it's always time consuming. (Or, if you want an easier solution, contact the taper and see if he'll dub the master tapes for you via B&P.)

Here is a great site on DVD: http://www.dvddemystified.com/

hello all
ok heres how i do it

i use dvd workshop (ulead)
and vegas video 4 (sony)
i synch up the new audio to teh video in vegas and render a new avi
the synch can be a pain sometimes but it all depends on how useful the footage is for synching
ie:lotsa close drum shots
i usually use the drums and singer close ups to be exact
and i can keep the camera audio if i need a marker to get it exact once again

i have just gotten a dvd workshop 2 with dual audio options so it can ahve cam and snbd sound..very cool
or even 2 separate aud sources or more...ha ha ha its endless!!

now comes the real fun part...(note sarcasm)

if the soundboard tape is edited at all the synch obviously
fals out at points and thats a challenge i just didn one where copyrighted bits used live had to be edited out and i ahd to go in and add crowd noise to fill in the space alos on taht one the vidtape change was done at a start of a song so there was 40 seconds missing so i made a little slide show with the replacement audio over it and it just fades into the video footage seemlessly..looks pretty cool too

now onto the ottawa snbd recording, absolutely amazing sound i must say!!!

but it HAS been edited somewhat cause after makeshift its out of synch
and i'm checkin further in too
so i will ahve to add or subtract little bits to bring it all together
once again a big thanx and kudos to Livedownloads.com for making these recordings available to us
i'm totally ahppy paying $13 a show for quality like this
and considerably fast service
i bought the billy live series from the 2003 tour and i saw the toronto show and LOVED it he's still in fine form and still ROCKS
anyways that series was graet,i got them all in one showt and they came in cases etc all CDR too but tahts fine
and all the casings were the same just with the show location etc changed
but i'm very happy with taht purchase
i'm alll for thsi new service available to all us hardcore music fans

thats all for now
just wanted to give an update

later
