Torrent File Format

To the best of my knowledge, a torrent fomat has to be used. I use MakeTorrent2, and have had great success with all FLAC recordings. That's about all I know...I'm sure there are some more knowledgeble souls that can help as well.

how do you listen to a torrent file do you need a special program if so where can i find some i'm new to this

Bit Torrent is a peer-to-peer sharing network, and as such, you don't download the files from a single server. In order to access the network, and find the pieces of the show you want to download from other peers, you need to connect to the central server, in this case called a tracker. The tracker only speaks one language, and that is the .torrent file format. The .torrent file contains the information about the directory structure and file formats for the show you want to download - but the .torrent file is not the "show" you want to download, nor what you listen to.
With that in mind, you can use Bit Torrent to share any kind of files, although as with any digital transfer it is best to compress your files before transmitting them. This reduces the transmission time, because of the reduced file size, and it ensures that the files maintain their integrity, and will work properly on your machine when the download is complete.

As explained above, you don't listen to or watch the .torrent file. The program used to listern to or watch the downloaded files depends on the compression used, and the orignial format of the show you are downloading.
