Video & Audio Taping still Cool in Canadian Venues??

hello all :shock: :shock: :shock:
i went to the kingston show and was not allowed to tape in any form at all
and since it was such a large crowd and on a military academy it was understandable to not allow taping but i'm seeing them in ottawa sunday at the civic center and i really hope all is cool with video and audio caus ei'm goin in full force video/DAT/Digital and 35MM cams

if anybody know anything or whatever just wants to register their opinion thats cool too

I think it depends on the venue. The Hip themselves don't mind recording, but the place they play might have something against it.

I've taped two shows in Edmonton. The first was the club show and they specifically allowed audio recording as long as you didn't bring a boom mic. Video taping wasn't allowed.

The second show was at Rexall Place, and I snuck in my MiniDisc recorder since it said 'no recording' on the ticket (wasn't hard, they didn't frisk me).

Someone suggested a while ago that you phone the venue and see if you can get permission. I think that's a good idea.

I video taped tonight's show at The ACC, and despite the fact that they were filming a DVD, I was still able to bring in my gear, and record the show.

The first security dude I spoke to, said no taping was allowed, but undeterred, I went to another door, and the guard let me walk right in.

Persistence pays off. :thumb:
