Just curious if any of you guys collect DMB boots? I have quite a few and all of the ones from the past 4ish years have been superior quality audience recordings. I have a few that almost rival a soundboard recording. I am not sure exactly what kind of equipment these tapers use (I mean I have read the specs, but it's mostly Greek to me), but whatever it is, it's fantastic.

Here's the spec from one of these shows:

Source Info:Neumann ak40s > Neumann lc-3 actives > Neumann KM100s >Lunatec V2 > Audiomagic Excalibur II XLRs > Sonic AD2K+ (16NS2)Location: Section B, Row 8, Seats 1 + 2
Conversion:Tascam DA-P1 > Phillips CDR-765 > Plextor 12/4/32x (extract) >SoundEdit 16 (editing) > Plextor 12/4/32x (burn/extract)

The real reason for this post is to see what any Hip tapers are using for equipment, and if any of you guys know exactly what this spec is and how much such equipment costs? My guess is it's the mics that make the biggest difference, and thusly buy quality or don't buy at all.

Thoughts?

Here's a great site with lots of info about making fan recordings: http://www.taperssection.com

There's a forum section called "Ask The Tapers.." and one dedicated to "Recording Gear."
