Actually, corduroy, this is not a rare question. Many others have asked for help on the FTP. If you use the search above and type in "FTP" or "thehundredthmeridian", you should be able to find some answers. I'm not an expert or anything so I can't really provide any fool-proof methods for getting on it. Normally I myself wait until 2 or 3 in the morning when there is no one else on the hipbase (by viewing which users are on at the bottom of the main forum page) and then I'm usually able to get on it.
Here are some links for help with software or settings... (I used the search)

Hi Guys,
I just updated the server software, so I'm not sure the issues some have had in the past are still around.
Post again, and be specific on what is happening that you can't connect. Do you get an error message, etc.
Some FTP apps work better than others, so try another FTP app out. There are tons of free ones other there. Try www.download.com and do a search for free ftp.
Also, make sure that you have your transcript window open. This tells you if there is a connection error, too many people are already logged in, etc. There are onky 5 available open download slots and they do fill up quickly.
Hope that helps,
Jerremy

I'm having problems Jeremy.
First uploading seems to take forever. 5k/sec but I can download from you at 20-30k. Also I uploded the asf of the mod 3 times now and each times it finishees it restarts the downlaod from scratch. I noyiced on your site you have the incomplete version 70MB. It's actually about 280mb.
Thanks,
Webside

Hi Webside,
Not sure why there would be such a difference in speed... However, ususally when someone is uploading, 5 other people are downloading at the same time... All looking for bandwidth.
The version in the downloads folder is an AVI file. Did you upload that one? I don't have software on that machine to play AVIs so I'm not sure if it is complete. I thought someone had converted the stream to AVI and sent it over.
Not sure what you mean that the file finishes then starts up again. If the file is complete, I don't know how the server could tell your FTP app to begin sending the file again - and to overwrite the existing file. If you have time and would like to try sending it again, try another FTP app and see if that works - or if you get the same result.
Thanks for taking the time to upload - hope we can figure out what is going wrong.
