Every two weeks a member of the Hipbase will post an audio recording to be featured in the Hipbase community. We will then all be required to rock the hell out of the selected audio day-in and day-out for a two week period (or ... also once).
Volume 08 runs from Feb 10th - February 23rd (Sorry, I'm a little behind this week). The Volume 08 selection has been made by Hipbaser edgoffin !
And the show selected is....

Haven't watched it, but have been listening. This show is fun to listen to, the ladies sure 'love Gord', even with the missed lyrics at the start of Ahead By A Century. Love the length of the 2000 set lists. I'm very pleased with the mix of this one as well, Kate is mixed way down. Her dominance in the 2000 Winnipeg War Child concert makes it almost unlistenable for me. I remember not enjoying her back up vocals at the 2000 show I attended, they just don't mesh well with the band in my opinion. I do like the addition of the keyboard to the line up, it also worked for the 2009 theatre tour.

I was curious if that's what soured me to the shows I saw on this tour in person. I was never a BTC fan, and while I appreciate she's a good singer it's not a style or approach that I particularly like. I'm going off memory -- it's either this show or a video of another same era -- but she adds a different timing to Flamenco that sort of throws it off for me. For whatever reason, Gord can mess with the timing and I'm fine with it, but with her I sort of see it as grandstanding (I don't think it is, just my gut reaction). On the other hand, I've seen others call it the best version of the song (best version I saw in person of that song -- Ottawa 2016, holy smokes Gord nailed it). This show, it was not until the end where I really noticed her in the mix.
I do like the keyboards -- I agree, I liked what Jim Bryson added to the sound in the WATS tour.
What great choice for a show. M@W tour was the first time seeing the Hip live. I was caught up in the moment that I never really paid attention to the fact Kate and Chris were even there. I have heard some shows where it seems to really add to the show and some where it doesn't seem to add to the show. This could totally depend on the mix of the show.
I did really enjoy what Jim added to the WATS tour really sounded good.
Loved this show!! Gord was really talkative which I love "We, ah, portaged . . . over land. You were shifting the weight on your golden shoulders." Random female fan - "You're making me horny!" Gord - "Haha! . . . yeah." The intro to Fully Completely, outro to Nautical and so much more. I love the Greasy Jungle version and Tiger the Lion always gets me. 29 songs now that is giving the fans their money's worth and personally I love Kate Fenner and think her and Gord sound absolutely great together. The Flamenco is one of my favorite versions too!! Fire in the Hole was awesome too.
