When the mystique varies thus
You can send a man to bury us
It's hard to say, it's sad but true
I'm kinda dumb and so are you

The Tragically Hip
Trafalgar Square
London, England
2013/07/01
Setlist:
At Transformation, Grace Too, Man Machine Poem, Gift Shop, Ahead By A Century, Streets Ahead, At The Hundredth Meridian, Courage, Bobcaygeon, Blow At High Dough, New Orleans Is Sinking > Nautical Disaster > New Orleans Is Sinking*, Little Bones
Encore: O Canada**
* Unfinished
** Everyone. All musicians & crowd.
Notes: New Orleans Is Sinking went unfinished due to organizer douche-baggery...
Pretty good show... The band was really solid... Gord got a little crazy with the screaming to open Grace, but he settled in as much as can be expected after that... Paul look totally pissed during Little Bones after they shut them down during the return to NOIS... I'm sure you can argue both sides of this coin... I'm also sure that this was probably the last time that The Hip will play this event...
Awesome that we got to watch this. I was really happy being able to do so down south here since sometimes these type of streams interfere with regional cable rights, that type of thing. I really miss being in Canada on these long weekends, with friends & The Hip playing in the background, but life takes us all to different places and being able to enjoy this was a real treat. Hopefully CBC puts that in the archives... I gotta see Paul's face again...

Gord and Paul both looked pissed when they pulled the plug on them. Did you notice the Hip weren't on stage for O Canada? They were probably still in their dressing room cursing up a storm, and I don't blame them. Stupid move on the organziers' part. The headliner almost always plays a little bit past the allotted time. You don't just cut the performer off mid-song.

I didn't quite understand what happened. Gord D went back into NOIS but everyone else started Little Bones. At least that's what it looked like to me.direwolf74 wrote:Gord and Paul both looked pissed when they pulled the plug on them. Did you notice the Hip weren't on stage for O Canada? Yes, that's exactly what I saw/heard. I thought it was the band that f'd up. Paul went into Little Bones but Gord thought they were going back into NOIS (after the Nautical part in the middle). When they realized "there was a mix up", "Gord rambled about the "O Canada singing".Zenith wrote:I didn't quite understand what happened. I think they had to trim their set but there was a little mis-communication.
They couldn't overrun because it was in a landmark in the middle of the city right next door to the consulate, so they didn't want to risk a massive fine for a free event!
