I've seen 3 shows at this Showbox- '05 tsunami relief show, Chris Cornell and Finger 11. Yes, the sight lines are different than Showbox market, as that floor sinks down a bit. SoDo is more flat, but not terrible IMO. Sound has been great from where I was, usually closer to the front. Bar is in an awkward spot, but didn't matter at the shows I was at, as they were 21+. Not sure how it will be for Friday night. Either way, the Hip will put on an amazing set & the place will be packed! Cannot wait to rock the Showbox! Travel safe everyone!
Peace,
Matt
man i wish i saw this prior to the show!

It turned out to be one of the weaker shows I've seen. Both the band and crowd were listless. Portland, on the other hand, was solid. It's always a pleasure to watch Steve Berlin do his thing on So Hard Done By.

Sorry you felt that way - I was standing on Paul's side about 5 or 6 back - there was a small group of us singing and jumping along. Thought the band were amazing and a very strong setlist! New stuff sounded great live!bobrockruinedthehip wrote:tigerthelion88 wrote:powerhouse .. on paper looks like one the best tour...I guess they left the very last song for a spur pick

Ya know, sure. The show wasn't the strongest by either crowd or band, but it was an "Evening with The Tragically Hip"! I know some of my excitement was dulled by the venue's line of sight and acceptable yet not great sound, or was it the beyond their limit drunks that were either falling down around me, standing near me threatening to vomit my way, or just stomping on my feet as they passed from bar to bathroom? From the band's side, maybe it was just a lower energy day, we all have them and why should I expect people like The Hip that actually can Think and Feel and get out of their own way to not have days that drag them down.
Regardless. I would not give the worse night watching The Hip for anything! It is what it is or was and will always sit in my memory as seeing the best band of artists I know of.
TY for the videos sullivand! Great quality and a view I couldn't see through the crowd.

Yeah that's super weird...
There's no way I'd believe he just forgot the words to Blow At High Dough in the second verse...
I wonder what that was about.
