No complaints, but I thought we were holding off on the new songs?

F that. Everyone that wanted them could have found or asked for them anyway.
There have never been "recording restrictions" of new songs until the past tour.
And since this was already posted on a different tracker - it was already out there.

I was asked to not post the new songs, so I won't. What others do is their prerogative.

This is posted to dime and our tracker so it's out there regardless of what I do...

5 years has passed since the last time The Hip have played new songs before an album has come out. Since then, YouTube (and other software technologies) have become way more user friendly (as well as the hardware that works with them). Keeping songs under wraps in 2011 is definitely more difficult then even in 2006.

Just my two cents.

Every single person who downloads Hip bootlegs is going to buy the new album, ANY new album by this band. Just saying.

It's been brought up on past tours that The Hip's management (or something along those lines) have requested that tapers hold off on releasing any recordings of new songs until the album's released. Again, I'm not particularly worried, just wondering what changed.

i'm not sure of the particular reason here, but most artists wish to wait until the album is released because often when new songs are played in advance of release they are more like working versions which may not end up being true to the final version.
