Hehe, "Blowing High Dough". Place looks insanely small!

It does seem tiny but the place books some pretty popular bands/acts like Our Lady Peace, Eddie Money, B-52s, BB King, Keb Mo, Robert Cray, Foreigner, Steve Earle, Son Volt, They Might Be Giants, etc. www.bellyup.commojo_mattv wrote:Hehe, "Blowing High Dough". Place looks insanely small!
They probably picked up this gig since they were going to be in L.A. anyway for tonight's LA Kings Canadian Night thing.

Fantastic show. I was fortunate to see them in June at the Troubadour in L.A. with about 300 people and it was incredible. I would have to say this show was at least that good or better. The Belly Up holds about 600 and the sound is fantastic. All things considered, a very intimate show. Gord got pretty pissed at himself when he messed up the last verse of Family Band, so it seemed his energy doubled after that to make up for it!
I have a few vids to post up as soon as Youtube finishes uploading.
Hopefully someone got a recording of this one.....!

Loved the show!!! I was 4 people back from the stage to the left a little bit. Great venue, so small. Only downside was the 4 morons trying to create a mosh pit and crowd surf amongst people who were chillin' and just enjoying the show.
Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks TTHip for pusting the shows I uploaded to Youtube for me. They are the sidestage shots over the soundboard. Not bad to an iPhone with a napkin covering the mic...
So did anyone who was there hear Gord say something about that show being recorded in a truck out back? He never elaborated and I'm curious as to what he was referring to.....
Cheers

Just got back yesterday from my American southwest roadtrip during which I saw the Hip. I really enjoyed seeing them at a small tavern, it really is their natural setting. Gems was a fantastic surprise and the whole 3-song segue of ABaC into Giftshop to Gems was magical. I also enjoyed the extended jam in the middle of 100th meridian which seemed to be absent when I saw them earlier in the year.

Weird. They wouldn't need a truck out back to record the show - they record every show, multi-tracked, right to hard drive at the soundboard.dpbdc wrote:Thanks TTHip for pusting the shows I uploaded to Youtube for me. If there were video cameras all over the place I could see a need for a truck, but no one's mentioned that the club was packed with cameras.
