Will there be any other Canadians in attendance? It is "Canada Night" at the STAPLES Center after all!

I'm excited since Belly Up the night before and this will be my first Hip shows in America and my first at a club / theatre.

According to Twitter, Dave Coulier of Full House fame was in attendance tonight...
and according to 'Mouthy': "The Tragically Hip just effing killed it on Nautical Disaster. Wow."

No Way! Cut. It. Out.
Actually, Coulier has made it to a bunch of West Coast shows over the years.

Show didn't start until 11pm, maybe even later. They only played 1 set, but they did the usual 3 acoustic songs in the middle. I'll never be able to remember the setlist but I know the first two songs are in the correct order and the two encore songs are as well.

NOIS
Depression Suite
In View
ABAC
Gift Shop
Morning Moon
Bob C
Nautical Disaster
Grace
Coffee Girl
Thompson Girl *
Last Recluse *
Wheat Kings *
Poets
Courage
Family Band
Blow

E - Love is a First
E - Music at Work

I know I'm missing a couple.

Yup, unfortunately. Surprised there was no Fireworks, especially with it being hockey night, not that I'm complaining. Very average, hoping they pick it up a bit in Vegas.

This is one of the most interesting versions of this song I have heard.
Almost the last 5 minutes is a "rant".
And the sound just sounds off - which is strange since the camera seems to be next to the soundboard.

I was part of the rant up in the second row of people on the floor - the sound was off; at least early on anyway. It seemed to get better as the show progressed however...either that or I got more and more deaf.

I'm sad to say that this was easily the worst of the 7 Hip shows I've seen. If I had known it wasn't an 'evening with' format show, I don't think I would have gone. Luckily I didn't have to go too far out of my way, I was already in Solana Beach the night before, but I felt sorry for the large groups who had flown in from Vancouver (though I suspect they were there more for the 'nucks than the Hip).

The highlight of the show for me, however, was surprisingly NOIS. It featured an extended rant in the middle during which Gord told a story of the man who traveled to New Orleans and didn't want to leave when it started sinking. Coupled with the stop time "SHE SAID" section of the song they've been doing this year, it's probably my favourite version of NOIS I've personally seen.
