Has anyone used a 5G ipod (video ipod) with an attachable audio recorder to tape a show?
The 5G ipod is supposed to do audio recordings in 44.1KHz, 16-bit stereo - CD quality.
I've been considering purchasing this attachable recorder:

But if anyone has had or heard negative results, I might change my mind. I was hoping this would be a cheap way to get an audio recorder for live shows, but if it doesn't work, I won't waste my $70, since I wouldn't be using it for anything else.
Any advice?
Thanks.
Advice for a wannabe taper?

I don't think it's worth it as the mics/recorder feature are intended for conversations - not loud rock concerts. You'll probably end up with nothing but distortion and clipping.
Do a google search for concerts that have been recorded this way - and have a listen to the results; if you can find any. (My cursory review came up empty.)

Hey guys , me and my wife were in front row. Got to sit there sound check and hang out with the band. They all signed the hipeponymous box set and we even got johnny`s sticks at the end of the show. I have about 80 pics . Did anyone get a chance to tape the show? I know this is my first post and all and likely shouldnt be asking but Id love a copy of the Sault ste Marie 07/01/23 show. Meeting the band blew both of us away, it was my wifes first concert on top of that and a copy of the show would really top the whole memory lane deal to its highest level. If anyone can helps us out with this we`d both really really appreciate it bigtime.
Thanking you in advance Jay and Tama
P.S My avy is the band and us at the show.

part of email jay sent me..thx for awesome pics man!!!!!_Excellent Vic, they are about the most laid back people I ever met man, was talking with Sinclair about his bass playing on THE DROP OFF and how killer the song was and he put it on the set list for me, at the start of the song he came running over to me and screamed out "here ya go Jay , this ones for you man" , its was wild man. They played the shit out of that song , seemed everyone of them gave 200% on that track and it should be an awesome live track . Heres two of the first three songs live footage of the concert, enjoy man.

Glad you enjoyed the shots Vic and Ill get the third song Grace too out here when it becomes available mon or tues . When I figure out how to and where post my soo show pictures Ill get them out there. I took a pic just before Gordon bent the mic stand , unfornutely the pics I took of him giving the base and the stand away to the crowd didnt come out. Awesome time it was , they put on one hell of a show . It`s to bad the crowd didnt give back to the group what they gave the crowd , makes me mad really. Wish like hell I could see the rest of the canadian tour.

hipography.com is pretty straightforward:
1. Register (link in top right corner)
2. Once registered and logged in, pick option from left hand menu that meets your needs. Create an album and then upload your pics.
3. Tell people to check them out.
thehiptracker.com is a sharing site that uses Bit Torrent. The sharing is what you downloaded, it doesn't have to be something new. First off, get your system properly configured, and then download a show - if things are set-up properly your system will also be uploading data to other users who are after the same show as you. This is how you share.
You cannot buy downloads. I thought about allowing this at one point, but it only benefits the downloader, and potentially me as the site owner if the money coming in from download credit purchases exceeds the running costs of the sites I maintain for fans.
As with anything, learning how to do it properly before trying it is the best coourse of action - although it seems that very few people do that when it comes to thehiptracker...
To get your ratio in order, get your system properly configured (there is a forum on the site with step-by-step instructions for Azureus; other guides for your particular set-up can be found all over the internet), and then hop on a DVD torrent and set your upload and download speeds to 40k down and 50k upload (or a similar ratio if your connection supports higher speeds than 85k upload...)
This will grow your uploads faster than you are downloading, and will grow your total transfers diminishing the impact that your current downloads vs uploads has on your total share ratio.

Read the posts in this thread as they explain most of it; and it all depends on how much you want to spend.RevolutionMan wrote:hey im looking to start recording finally, starting with the oshawa show, audio wise, where and what kind of good equipment should i use? like i get the actual recorder and then external mics? can i stuff at the sony store or somewherE? thanks
$1000 and up seems to be a reasonable starting point for a recorder, battery box, mics and cables...
