That's what set me off.... so my post may seem a little confusing when what I initially responded to is no longer in the thread. You also missed my point as well. Never did I question the time that you put into recording mastering, and whatnot. I'm not saying that you don't do a great service for Hip fans. You just don't need to attack everyone who asks a simple question. That's all I'm saying.
If you are suggesting that I have some sort of administrative authority on this site to remove or change a post, you are mistaken. I'm just a fan, like everyone else, and do not have administrator or moderator control.

And why not keep your nose out of this thread? It didn't concern you yet you felt the need to get in the middle of it.

I think comments like "I have to get my hands on it" seems very demanding. I'm not making an assumption of your intent, but thats how it immediately comes accross to me. Then, "the audio just isn't enough" seems very ungrateful of what you already have.
jamseyb wrote:Why does every taper take offence when someone asks whether a show will come out or not? For crying out loud, he just wanted to know if it was going to be released or not. The negativity around here is sickening......
There are numerous places in the forums that state the information about the release of recordings. The last thing we need is to pressure those donating time, effort and expense to produce them.

Personally, if I was in Chris' shoes and read some of the ignorant comments on the board, there would be a little harsher words for them. Actually, chris' response was quite benign, and did in fact answer the question, diplomatically.

Wow!!! Who needs a soap opera, we have 1 right here....

I don't blame people for asking "When will a show be available" if it's done properly, and if it hasn't already been asked and answered...I've personally asked Chris and others about when I might find a show I'm after...However, I don't start new threads that cover old ground, and I don't get in people's faces about it. And ya know what? Chris has always gave me a straight answer, and that's awesome. He and the others do an amazing job with what they provide us, I am thankful for all their efforts...I am pretty sure that if u check around, you'll find out what shows are likely to be released next, and if you show some patience, we'll ALL have access to EVERY show basically from this year, which is very exciting. Yeah, I'd love it if Chris and the other editors had a blog or whatever that let us know exactly how far along each show is, when they'll be out, etc...But unfortunately, those folks actually have lives, and don't exist merely to prepare hip stuff for us...so i am thankful for what they provide, and the info and updates we get.....

This is not a new issue, nor is it an issue that we are going to be rid of any time soon. If you absolutely have to have a recording of a show, tape it yourself. If there is someone out there who wants to edit a show, let me know. Send me a 300Gb hard drive and return postage. I'll load it up with the digital files needed for the show, send it back to you (at your cost) and start the timer. (Actually... I won't do this as I've been burned before, and am not interested in getting burned again.)

For reference, we should resurrect this awesome thread from the summer of 2004... discussing the very same issue: http://hipbase.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2802

chris, I totally wish I could help you with the editing tasks...i know u were being sarcastic to make your point...Unfortunately I don't have the technical knowhow to be of assistance, and I couldn't do half a good a job as you do....I just hope that u know that for every annoying post/pm/email u get requesting/demanding a show, there are a tonne of us out here who totally appreciate what u do, and hope that u realize how much we thank you...

And my thoughts...

And this isn't meant to continue the thread; we're just in a happy mood after another great show in Montreal.

jamesyb, There is no elitism going on here, especially not from chris of all people! There are plenty of threads both here, and on the tracker that cover the issue of when shows will be shared. Chris and co are doing the best they can, and they don't need people jumping on their backs.

well then, didn't think this much would come out of one post...
Just wanted to straighten out the fact that I loved the belleville show and it is quite possiblly one of the best recordings I have ever heard
(great work!) and when i said that it was not enough and i have to get my hands on it, I just meant that i loved the show that much and am very excited to see it. It does not mean that i am unappreciative of any work anyone has done, of course i understand alot goes in to it and yes i still can't wait to get. But i guess life has hardened some of you and you can't take a comment. Sorry to step on anyones toes,
apparently being a hip fan has some kind of status quoe.

No, I don't think that is the case. I think it's more that messages posted on the internet are very ambiguous. A phrase used when talking face to face with someone, can be interpretted very differently when written down, and read by others. You just have to be careful with the wording, is all. ;)
