Is it the picture at the top of the page that is making it necessary to scroll left and right in every thread?

I hardly even visit the site anymore because I find it so annoying to have to do that. It's especially annoying to try to read the threads where people have taken the time to write a fair bit, such as the "Hip jumped the shark" thread.

Thanks!

What is your screen resolution set at? This site requires atleast 1024x768. For example 1/4 of my screen is grey.
I need 2 Kingston Tickets, please help.

I'm on 800 x 600

This is a reasonably new sizing, isn't it? Seems to me it's only been this way for a few months, because my monitor has always been set on this number. And I definitely remember not having to scroll left and right back when I was on here more, during the IVL period.

For the purposes of what you were saying, I altered my settings to those you listed, but it's way too small (or I'm way too blind  ) for me to use regularily.

I don't know much about websites. I frequent three or four other music related message boards, and they're all sized great for 800 x 600. And the only thing that seems different is the really wide picture at the top on this site.

Imagine if Rob was in the pic, we'd be scrolling over for an hour

It's fine for me too, but I see Powderfinger's point. This board is a bit too wide; when I read from university, I have to scroll right and left. A lot of the flat screens' resolutions are only just big enough for it.

Most of the boards I am a member of leave about one-fifth to one-third of my screen blank, but this board fills the entire screen.

The most popular screen res is 800 x 600...
It does get a little annoying having to scroll left to right to read the posts.

Here are the stats for the hipbase

1. 1024 x 768 65.9 %
2. 800 x 600 28.4 %
3. 1280 x 1024 4.5 %
4. >= 1600 x 1200 1.1 %
Total 100.0 %

It used to always be 800 x 600, but I just did a search and it now seems that 1024 x 768 has overtaken it and now become the most used resolution on the web. I guess I should get with the times! Image

But, hey, speaking of that pic at the top, I'm here everyday (religiously posting and keeping up to date) but lately i'm getting bored with it....
It's just the same pic everyday.
But, never fear, I have an idea. A contest, perhaps, where we all have the option to design something cool for the banner up there and the winner has it displayed up there but everyone votes for the winner in a poll (so we'd have to name the pictures or something)... what do you all think?
We could do this every couple months or so too....
Just a thought....
I am just waiting for some new pics from the up coming shows, then I will change it.

it would be cool if you could write a script to choose a random image each time the page is loaded.
