where did the etree hip shows go?

They where removed because the Hip will not forward a request to allow show to be allowed on the servers.

Is that the same as saying they do not allow it and don't plan on it? I mean, will we never see the Hip on etree again? I find this odd since the standing policy (since 1998) is that they DO allow taping of shows...but then I don't know much about all this.

So is that it? Goodbye to everything from etree?

Archive and Etree are two totally different things. The Hip have to agree to have there shows on archive servers. They have not done that yet....
I have emailed many times, no response.

Well....the person up above asked what happened to the Hip stuff on etree and you responded with the bit about the Hip not giving permission. If that pertains to the archive stuff, then I guess the original question still stands...

of course, if anything I say sounds stupid or confused, it's because I only just started using Smart FTP to go after what's on the Hipbase servers and I really don't know much about anything else. Im trying to pick it up as I go along... I only know enough to run the programs functionally. c'est la vie pour un newbie

The Hip will always be on db.etree.org. They will be part of the etree community aslong as they allow taping.

I just checked archive.org/etree
They have 8 servers up now with 600gigs of space. We have to get The Hip on there!! Everyone please email the hip [email protected] telling them about this. We can get tons of shows online!

I have done so already! And I hate to be a pain in the ass with these questions, but I'm trying to get into hipshows.mine.nu and have been for a week. I have gotten in, but now it's giving me a new error message: "530 this account has been disabled". does this mean that the server is down or that I've been banned? For that matter, if I were banned would I know? If one of my settings (I've left all the SmartFTP settings at default) were outside the rules, would I be told I was getting banned?

edit: I wasn't able to get in all week, but tonight for the first time it's saying "Welcome to my server" etc (which I take it means I am in) and THEN giving me the "account disabled" thing. So the server is apparently up but I can't get in and stay in which is why I'm confused.

That was my mistake, the server is up but the hipbase account was disabled, I was going through all my user accounts and forgot to enable it again. It will be up tonight and I will be adding the Amsterdam and NYE shows. I will be getting them out to Lance and the others so they can spread faster and so my bandwidth doesn't take the hit....... Another thing, if you had been banned you would get a message saying that you ip was banned and you are only banned for 30 minutes.
