hey folks
hope all is well.. after a few months of missing in action, I am back.. hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to the new tour..

First person to answer either one of these questions gets a copy of the 09-16-02 dvd hip show (PLEASE PM ME THE ANSWER), there is a prize for each one of these questions...

Question 1)Sam Roberts is from what Quebec town? (Montreal is not the proper answer)

Question 2)Go the www.maplemusic.com there is a SOLO MALE ARTIST on the FRONT page who just released an album (BUY IT).. his father used to be a Minister in Canada for what exactly? (this is a tough one, I'll be pleasantly surprised if someone gets this)

I know these aren't really hip questions, but obviously Sam Roberts is opening for the hip, and people should really support the guy that's on maplemusic.com..

hmmm.. okay I should have probably looked into question 2 a little more... I was only aware that Sam Elkas (Peter's father) used to be the Minister of Transport... after looking into it, I see that he was also the Minister of Public Security in Quebec as well... 2 people basically answered the question with him being the former Public Security Minister...

I will award the prizes to those two people and eliminate the prize for the 1st question...

the answer to the first question is: Pointe Claire (though I do believe he moved at one point)..

Peter Elkas is originally from Kirkland, Quebec.. he started in a group called the Local Rabbits (who used to be on Sloan's Murderrecords).. Peter's brother won the Vanier Cup in 87 with McGill. Useless facts some people might want to know.

Thanks Peter!! :thumb: :jump

Funny thing is I searched high and low for Sam's hometown that wasn't Montreal and gave up out of sheer frustration but it was much easier to find out about Peter Elkas's father. Go figure

it's a little tought since Pointe-Claire is a suburb of Montreal (and in reality is kind of technically Montreal because of the merger, but now there will be demergers so it'll be back to being Pointe Claire (long story))...

I knew Peter growing up, and went to grade school/high school with Sam (though he was 2 years older).. I knew his brother Dan a little more.
