Happy New Year Hippies!
For January, we tread into Day For Night territory with a selection from Hipbaser mark.
1995-02-02 - Halifax, Nova Scotia
http://hipfans.com/SeansVault/1995-02-0 ... Scotia.zip
Here's a few quick points that mark said about his selection:
* this was, i believe, the largest tour the band had done to this point
* the tour itself was wildly successful, selling out arenas from Newfoundland, to North Bay to Vancouver
* some classic Gord rants in this one
* a great version of Freaked/Cookie Factory
Setlist:
Grace, Too
Fully Completely
Inevitability of Death
Courage (for Hugh MacLennan)
Greasy Jungle
The Last of the Unplucked Gems
Thugs
New Orleans is Sinking
Lionized
Scared
Opiated
Nautical Disaster
Fifty-Mission Cap
Titanic Terrarium
At the Hundredth Meridian
Locked in the Trunk of a Car
Fire in the Hole
We'll Go too
Daredevil
Little Bones
This is a soundboard as well! One of my favs. Can't wait to revisit! Hope everyone enjoys this one. All the best in 2018!

Had totally forgotten about this until I listened the other day - Gord certainly was on the money!

This may be the best ever available to fans (and my favourite ever) version of Opiated.

I think it's very interesting that Titanic Terrarium is on this boot; by my count, following DFN, they played Halifax 10 times; 1995, 1996, 1999(x2), 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2015. Titanic (according to Setlist.fm - which is likely missing some setlists) has only been played 45 times.
Seems strange that 3 of these playings were in Halifax; I would guess due to the ties Halifax has to the Titanic?

Finally got around to listening to this show, it's stellar!!
I did my best to not peek at the setlist prior to listening. Having Titanic Terrarium poke up was a great surprise. I enjoyed the one line teaser of ABAC at the end of We'll Go Too.
Locked didn't have the same ferocity of other performances in my opinion, however it was still a solid sounding song, Fire in the Hole is an absolute monster of a performance, in the DFN album voting, I learned many people are somewhat impartial to it, however, if I had my way it would have been played every show.
Quite the intro to little bones
Great Observation about Titanic Terrarium and Halifax, as someone who chased the song Thugs it always felt to me it was played more on the west coast. Looking at the setlist archive, Thugs was played 45 times after 1996, of those times 12 of them were in Cali,BC or AB with only 3 appearances in Ontario.

I'm fairly ambivalent to the studio version of Fire in the Hole however the two times I've seen it live it has blown me away. To me, it has always seemed to be much more menacing live; good studio in studio, fantastic live!

Grace starts pretty subdued - sounds fantastic but then as they hit the end of the second chorus, they're just flying.
Grace into Fully is probably my favourite one-two they do. Fully seems to flow so well from Grace and it seems to just work.
Inevitability is wonderful - rocking hard but the rests are so tight. Then the mini rant the music is just perfect before they put the pedal down to the end.
The rhythm on Courage is a great example of Paul going way beyond the studio version. More interesting than the simple G-A he plays for much of the studio version.

Incredible pick, a top shelf Hip show and recording
Grace too intro "ladies and gentleman Mr Gregory Peck" ... was this some silver Jet foreshadowing or simply a coincidence?
IOD rants, awesome
Loved thugs, too
That Opiated is a hall of famer.
Wish I hadn't looked at the setlist prior to listening so I could have been surprised by Titanic.
Early ABAC lyrics
The intro jam to dardevil ... is that the Phishiest Hip ? Loved it. If that was a potential album cut that was shelved, consider me sad.
Also laughed at "pussy magic and wiener art" before little bones. It can't be simply coincidence that we saw "Wiener Art Inc." for the first time on the Henhouse liner notes a year later. Only left to wonder had the name/idea hatched from a stream of consciousness rant on stage, or had Gord already come up with it prior?
Incredible pick. Really enjoyed listening to it multiple times and will surely revisit and recommend in the future.
