Retiring...

Hey everyone...

Rory Young here. After 8 years of trading bootlegs, I'm hanging up the skates. Different priorities have edged their way into my life, and I have no time to maintain all the trades etc that it takes to keep up. That being said, I would like to get rid of my entire bootleg collection... that's right.. all of my shows. Most are on cassette tape, and there are quite a few on CD as well. I am only looking to cover most of the cost of the tapes and CD's themselves, so this collection must go to a serious fan. There are 334 tapes, and about 100 CD's, give or take, so it is a big undertaking. If anyone is interested, please send me a private email at:
[email protected]

The torch passes to...?

Thanks, all...

Rory

Rory. I can understand your new priorities. You'll always be a Hip fan and well respected in the community. Was great meeting you and hanging out with you.

Wish you the best of luck in your future plans (getting married etc). Take care man.

What a bonanza! I would kill for your collection, but I don't think there's ANY way I could afford the cost of shipping hundreds of cassettes...in a better age, perhaps, but I guess someone else is going to be the lucky bastard!

Good luck with whatever you're moving on to. It was great having you around, and a pleasure to meet you at the show! All the best in the future! :thumb:

Rory,

you are a hero to lots of us, and the reason a lot of us got a start in bootlegs. I could never afford to pick this up, nor would I want to. Here is why...I think these tapes/cds come with a huge responsibility. They should go to someone who helps share the music with other hipfans they way you did. So I think you should find someone that 1. obviously has the dough and 2. will be responsible with the new found wealth and do their best to share....I hope this doesn't sound like I want a cheap way to get the tunes, I just mean you have helped so many people out and I think that should continue. If there was a hall of fame (Lance, how about it - the Hipfan Hall) you would be exempted the years wait and immediately entered into the hall...they'd retire your number, if we had numbers (Lucky 5727!) and probably have a bobble head day in your honor. Thanks for all the help you were to me and so many others....going out at the top of your game

All the best

Jesse (aka Stickboy, Pig On Tour)

Kind of melodramatic huh?

Rory,

You may be considered the "Gretzky" or "Gordie Howe" of the Hip community. You are well known and have been helpful to so many Hip fans, myself included. Good luck in your future plans. Even though you won't be trading bootlegs anymore, keep in touch with everyone.

One question. Will you be keeping your website active or closing it down also?

I just have to say this. Once a Hip Fan always a Hip Fan where every you are or what you are doing. I wish you the best of luck and have fun getting married. Remember, the day is for YOU TWO and no one else.
