uploading/seeding (help my poor unfortunate soul)

I want to help all I can with the hiptracker, but alas I do not understand all of the computer jargon within the "how-to's" of seeding. Currently my computer supports seeding to the hiptracker with a very limited speed. I want to know how to fix this without being directed to a link of an increasingly complex maze of jargon laced explanations. I'm running my computer on Vista, through a wireless internet connection to sympatico high speed. Any help (hopefully in English) I would extremely appreciate! Thanks ahead of time.

Hi there, I think we're probably going to have to tackle this one problem at a time...

Ok, first off, some ISP's have been known to throttle BT traffic. I think Rogers were one of them (can anyone confirm?). Sympatico might be doing the same.

Do you have the same username on the Hiptracker that you do here? Also, which client are you using (uTorrent/Azureus etc etc)? I'm going to guess that since you're connecting wirelessly you're going to be firewalled behind one or more routers. We may be able to retify this with a little more info from you. :)

What you have to do is simple. How to do it though, is not as simple.

Use either Azureus or uTorrent. There are lots of others, but these two are popular, have great support networks, and have been proven to work.

Are you using the Sympatico wireless modem, or the wired modem to your own wireless router?

Things To Do
01: Assign a static IP to your computer.
02: Pick a port range - for you let's use 45000 - 46000.
03: Open and forward the port range to your static IP - this has to be done in the router, your firewall (hardware and/or software) and your bit torrent program.

Start with number one on the list and once that is complete, verify that you still have internet connectivity, email access, etc. You need to assign the IP in Vista and possibly make some changes to your router setup.

Chris I totally appreciate the help but someone's definately gonna need to hold my hand through all of this. I've been to portforward.com a couple of times but it's all greek to me.
Zenith, my username on the tracker is "mojomattv". I'm using Azureus, and I'm connect to the web via a wireless modem/router by the name of "sympatico Awire". Thanks again.

I won't hold your hand, but I will explain it step-by-step.

Do you know how to log in to your router? Sympatico provided a username and password for your router when you got it - this is when you need that info.

i also have sympatico high speed, and i've noticed it is throttled during 6pm to midnight. it's capped at 30Kbps down and 30Kbps up.
may not be what you're asking about, but maybe some useful info to you all the same.

Sorry I'm at school right now and I won't be home until morning so I can't find the information you asked for chris. My rates are much much lower then 30Kbps. More in the range of 0-3Kbps
