How well do the videos come out in a venue that size? Is it a lot harder to get as good positions as it is for the club shows?

They still come out pretty good, not as nice as the club though.

As far as I know, I'm the only one going to the San Diego show, and any kind of recording is prohibited. Anyone know of good covert equipment/ways to record/get the equipment in? I think I remember hearing something about earbuds in a hat but I may have been on drugs when I (thought I) read that.

Pretty much all recording is prohibited over here, but I have a
Sony mic that is really small, but picks up everything. I've been two rows from the front at club size gigs using it, with security guys straight in front of me and it's not been seen. It can be done.

Eesh. I'm gonna be up in the terrace seats at an arena show and anyway the mic is all I could afford. I have nothing to record into that's not a video camera and I won't be able to smuggle that in.

BIGVDOGG - ask away, as there are more than a few of us who are taping that will be at the Toronto/Hammer shows.

chris not sure who or what to be asking.access issues an obvious one as i dont feel much like hooping one of those sonys! for hamilton show my wifes mom is a hostess at swiss chalet across from copps(good meeting spot).camera tips would help as i will making a purchase shortly before these shows.i have had quite a few video cameras over the years.i know the material well enough to know where and when to pan,but am by no means where you guys are at.but i do think i would do pretty good with zooms at the front .i have met dreyfuss so could hook up with him in hamilton.10-4

You could probably pick up a mini-disc recorder pretty cheap now to be honest. That's what I've used, and like I say, the results have been good. The raw recordings tend to come out quite quiet, but the levels can be easily bumped up afterwards.
I've never taped an arena show, but I can imagine that you're right, and it'll be a lot harder to get a decen recording from in the terraces.
