Hey everyone, I've been a member for a little while but have not formally introduced myself.

My name is Matt. I'm from Fredericton, NB and I've been obsessed with the Hip since 1992. I met the Hip, in 1998 and told Gord that I was a songwriter myself and he was my biggest inspiration. Gord signed my Phantom Power booklet "Matt Power. Happy Days" (my last name is not Power!) I also got my picture taken with the band.

I'm so obsessed with the Hip that I can sing and play and every single Hip song on the Guitar. They are what inspired me to learn the guitar over 10 years ago.

Long live the HIP!!!!

Welcome to the Hipbase. You are definitely a very dedicated fan. Your screen name is very appropriate since it was given to you by Gord himself.

Get this dude. When I was in Niagra Falls way back in 1993, I bought a little book at the gift shop called "Niagra and the Daredevils". It tells the stories of all the people that attempted to go over the falls in barrels. The stories are pretty crazy, but all true. Many of the men who did it were killed.

Anyway, DFN came out the year after I bought this book and I always wondered if Gord bought it too and it inspired him to write the song.

I live in Minnesota, where the sky is clear and people can be dull. Adapting to this enviorment is a life long process. The Hip makes that all go away. I have met them on numerous occasions and met Gordon last year in Minneapolis. I have yet to be disappointed. They fill me with worth and some times seems Gordon writes the songs just for me. The music speeks to me. I know you all understand that.

Hi Everyone:

I'm originally from Kingston, but now call Ottawa my home. Was just cruisin' sites and came across this one.

Became a Hip fan while living overseas. I saw "Small Town Bringdown" on Canada Calling. That was somewhere around 1987. It was just what this homesick kid needed. I've been a fan ever since.

It's hard to believe that it's been almost 17 years. Man, do I feel old.....

Great Site!!

K-Town

hey all!
