Welcome Mrs. MattyM!Eviekay wrote:Hi, I'm Emma, I've been a member here since last July, but this is my first post (please be gentle). I live in Portsmouth, UK and I got into The Hip early last year by accident when I came across New Orleans Is Sinking... I played it to my partner (MattyM) and he initially said it was "okay, not bad but nothing too special". After that I got some more tracks and started to really get into the band, for my birthday in May, Matt got me In Violet Light on CD and two tickets to see the Hip in London. After seeing them live he was finally a convert and he's been posting on here and buying up albums ever since... and finally he's convinced me to post too!

Hey all. Name's Colin, originally from New Brunswick, spent a few years at UNB getting an engineering degree. Now living in Brockville Ontario, just south of Ottawa. Been a Hip fan since I was allowed to buy tapes with my babysitting money. First one was FC, then proceeded to grow into a mega-fan.
Other interests: TPB, Football (Go Bears), Drinking Beer.

So, here's a story for you.
I signed up to Hip Base AGES ago. Maybe two years ago, when I first started listening to The Hip and then due to inactivity, I forgot my username. I know, how dumb am I? Well, finally I got an email this morning stating that if I did not show any sign of life before a certain date, my account would be deleted. Fortunately, they included my username in the email and so, here I am!
So, to sort of introduce myself... my name's Chantal. I'm 15 and have been a fan of The Hip for, like I said, nearly three years. Of course, I grew up listening to them on the radio without actually realizing that I was listening to The Tragically Hip, if you know what I mean. Then a few summers ago my uncle bought some tickets to the Sudbury Bluesfest where The Hip were supposed to be headlining. I figured, what the hell. By the end of the night I'd totally fallen in love!
I'm also a big fan of Stripper's Union.

I saw them in 2004 as well, and fell in love also! Welcome aboard. This is a great place to talk Hip, among other things!InVioletLight wrote:So, here's a story for you.

greetings from Toronto
i've seen The Hip many times over the years, going all the way back to Canada Day at Molson Park in Barrie (1990 i believe), where they played Green Eyed Lady.
some of the more memorable shows include The Concert Hall in 1991 (my first licensed show as a legal drinker - woohoo!) for the Road Apples tour. my buddy and i made our way right up to the front of the stage and rocked the f**k out! saw them twice at good ol' Maple Leaf Gardens; first time opening for Rush and then as the headliner. then there was the very first concert ever at the Air Canada Center, which i even have a poster for:

very good times indeed.

Hi I'm Nick. I'm a student at McGill, studying stuff like neuroscience and psychology. I'm from a very small town in northwestern Ontario (think 8 hours north of thunder bay). I guess the hip just rubbed off on me, when I was young my parent would always be playing their first 3 albums.mrlayance wrote:Whats do you do? Where are you from? Why do you love the Hip?

Hey ya'll,
I've been posting on here for a couple years now and figured I'd formally say hello to everyone. My name is Scott, I have been a Hip enthusiest for many years now and have seen them 13 times. I have a wonderful wife and 2 great kids and live in the Detroit MI area.
I actually recieved a free ticket to see the Hip in 93 at Chene Park in Detroit. I didnt know anything about them and went and was mildly impressed but not blown away. I bought a few more of their cd's and something really dug deep when I read the lyrics to Nautical Disaster...I was hooked. I didn't see them live again until aug 98 for Phantom Power.... I havent missed a show since (in the area).
Great band with the most dedicated and knowlegable fans out there!!
