A late introduction

And I guess I've never introduced myself formally on here so ...
I'm from up North and now live in sunny Leeds. I found the Hip back in old '94 courtesy of a Canadian guy with whom I swapped some cassette tapes while I was travelling in Thailand. We had become bored with the same old stuff we had so we traded a few... I got Blue Rodeo, Toad the Wet Sprocket (Dulcinea) and Fully Completely. (He received Icicle Works, It Bites and World Party I seem to remember.)
I actually bought my FC cd in Singapore on the same trip, and quickly sourced Hip and Toad's back catalogue on my return home.
Eventually got to see the Hip at the Henhouse show at Shepherd's Bush in '97. This still ranks as one of the most amazing concerts I have ever had the priviledge of attending (on the night New Labour came into power and everything ...) and the Canadian content of the audience came as a shock - a pleasant one I must add.
I have seen all the London shows since then, accompanied by mate Sam who I originally met when we traded Hip boots way back then via the alt-music forum (he's also a fellow Rush fan).
I have in the main lurked on here for a couple of years, with the odd incisive post being thrown in
Kudos to Chris et al for keepin this place going, the Tracker, the taping and the DVDs etc. This is a priceless resource for Hip fans.

Hi my name's Elliot.
I'm from Medicine Hat, Alberta.
I'm a more recent hip fan, I got my first hip record last winter, and I've been going nuts for these guys ever since.
This looks like an awesome message board, I'm looking forward to posting on it.

Hey I'm Iain. I'm currently in grade 12 in Woodstock, On. Life as a highschool student is getting extremely boring, as most (or all) of you are aware. I'm really into listening to and creating music - I play guitar and piano. I love the Hip becuase they're a great band, and put on an amazing live show. Hope to get to know you guys/girls and have some fun on here, and maybe learn a thing or too as well.

I think "Seinfeld" taught me most of my life lessons but you'll learn a thing or two here I think. Welcome.

Hello everyone, I'm Jeff. I've been known as Almost Hip in a number of other communities (mostly Toronto Subaru Club) for a number of years and have just stumbled accros this board. I've been a die hard Hip fan since TATHH (basically when I realized who the Hip were and what songs of theirs I already knew and liked) I've been to around 30 concerts, now it's time to go back to all the stubs and make a list. Otherwise I'm into rallying, hockey and soccer. I love the Hip because to me nothing else makes you feel more Canadian than TTH

Well said.

I just joined as well, even though I've been a fan for... well, let's just say for a very long time. But only found the 'internet' a couple years ago
so I'm a little slow on the up-take.
Now where are my manners? I've got a boat-load o'nerve, posting willy-nilly on this board and I haven't even said hello yet. Tsk tsk.
So ermm... hello everyone. Name's Sylvia (as most of you have already discovered from my sig).
Love photography, but I'm old school; I still shoot in film. I only shoot digital at shows because I can only get in with my crappy point and shoot - I'll work with what I have. I do plan on going to see Richard Beland's exhibit soon... once I find some spare time. Still gutted about missing his opening though. Ah well.
Anyway, happy hour is here so I'm off. See you on the board.

Hi everyone, pman comin at you from Edmonton, Alberta, originally from Red Deer. I've lurked here for a bit and thought I'd join up to some chatting and trading. Just saw the boyz for my 17th time in Calgary, night 2, also got to see them on the IBE club show at New City which was much smaller than Mac Hall. I also remember seeing the boys at Red Deer College's Far Side Lounge before they became popular.......yea...I'm gettin old.
If you were at New City you may remember a very large dude dressed as a Viking, that was my little brother who won his way in with The Bear. I was standing in front of him, pressed against the stage at Sinclair's feet, which I think is about as close as I'll ever get without actually being on stage.
Anyway I have really enjoyed reading all the reviews of the current club shows, and look fwd to meeting some great people on here. Cheers!

Thnak you very much for the warm welcome Jenna_Bird, pigography, and chris! Once I figure out how to use bit torrent I'll have to get that show, thanks for the heads up and the link.
I have a ton of shows on cd to trade, sadly none of them are hip shows, but there is some good stuff.
