Maybe we'll see you at the Fort York show!!
Thanks chris! I have a lot of reading to do! I'll jump right in a start posting though that's for sure.

Um, yeah, I'll uh, see you at the Fort York show....you and the thousands of others! Seriously though, I can't wait...Fort York is an awesome place to see a band. It should be pretty cool out there amid the barracks.

Welcome Sarah. You're lucky that you live in Toronto and get a lot of chances to see the Hip. Enjoy the hipbase.

Ah, but you live in PEI, which is very close to God's Country. I lived in Nova Scotia for 5 years and my heart is still there. But yeah, the biggest complaint was that no bands ever came to Halifax! Oh well, all the good bands came out of Halifax: Joel Plaskett Emergency, Sloan, Matt Mays, the Trews, etc., etc......

Yeah, the maritimes are a good breeding ground for good music. I've seen the Trews on PEI three times. PEI is getting better at getting bands to come. I saw Sam Roberts a few months ago and of course Sam, Matt, and The Hip will be gracing us with there presence on June 30. Plaskett will be sending his music out to us on July 1. Good music coming up. On top of that, I just got word that I'll probably be attending the golf thing with Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson here on PEI next week. Should be interesting anyway.

If you're talking about Halifax, well, yes, most of it is. Citadel Hill, the old fortress, sits atop a huge hill overlooking the harbour. If you were to walk from the harbour up to Citadel Hill, you'd be facing quite the steep incline! I went up and down those hills many a time.

Oh, sorry! I guess that one went way over my head! I've never been to Thompson, I suppose I'll have to make a trip sometime. I could probably drive from here. Road trip!

That would be one heck of a road trip as it's only 3,000km! (Google Map)

Yeah, I know. Could be interesting for me, as the furthest north I've ever been is Barrie! Hahah! Just kidding...I'm sure I've been further north than that!

Trust me, Thompson is not worth the 8 hour drive north from Winnipeg... I have done it a few times... If you like fishing it might be worth it. Other then that it is just a northern town with a Nickel Stack.

Sorry I keep hijacking things here, but as I was going back through the pages of this thread I happened to notice that there already is a thompson girl (thompson girl21) and her name happens to be Sarah! I didn't know that before I registered! Weird. Two Sarah's who both happen to choose thompson girl as their user name!

Hello there, my name is Justin. I'm ashamed to say that although I'm a big Hip fan, I didn't know this community existed until crazykid directed me from another forum. I'm excited to dig through the achieves and get to know everyone around here a little better.

I was born and raised in Kingston, ON. I actually lived in a house for 4 years which was one of the closest to Millhaven Penitentiary (but I'm too young to have experienced the events of '73). I guess everyone from Kingston has some sort of "Hip" story. My grandmother, for example, used to babysit Downie. They're great ambassadors for the city. I can't recall the first time I experienced their music, as I grew up around it, but had never seen them live. Unfortunately because they rarely play Kingston anymore, I had been unable to attend a live show until I moved up to southwestern Ontario. I know, it's awful, but I have one Hip show under my belt as of June 18th in Guelph.

Needless to say, that show was quite surreal for me. It was everything I had come to expect from the band. It was great to hear some long lost songs that, by the sounds of things, were a rare treat. However, there were still songs that I'm sure get played often live that I'd like to hear (Grace, BobC, etc.)

I am happy to announce that I have tickets for the Ovation Festival in September and I'm looking forward to that show. Perhaps by then I won't be a complete stranger and I'll be able to introduce myself to a few of you who will also be attending the show. Although, by the looks of the pictures taken from the Guelph show, I was very close to the photographers. I actually took a few pictures of the Weakerthans for some guy behind me because I'm tall*... I wonder if he's from this board?

Anyways... ummm... Howdy! :thumb:

* I'm sorry for being in people's way. I wasn't the guy in the red shirt that everyone has been complaining about. But I was about 5 rows back, infront of Baker and I had a blue shirt on. On the plus side, I got that guy in the green hat (who pushed his way up to the front and continued to cause shit there) ejected for being an assclown. Not to mention I'm usually the one who gets smoked in the back of the head by crowdsurfers :x (I got my glasses knocked from my face at the Foos and ended up getting them trampled because of this!). SO... pardon me if I was blocking your view. Honestly...
