Ya it is in the second link I provided...it is considered NOTL but out by the highway so at least a 15 - 20 minute drive if you plan on having a few drinks.

Looks like my first Ontario Hip show could be in the works...
It would be my fourth time seeing The Hip the day before Canada Day if it works out!

I get more and more excited for this show by the day. I figure the place will be relatively empty when The RAA come on, which I think is cool. Hopefully we can stake out a spot near the stage. Hoping for at least some diversity in Das Hips' setlist.

Just wanted to give everyone a head's up that alcohol will NOT be served once the Hip take the stage. NOTL community is very nervous about safety. Apparently if you build it, he will come. IMO disaster incoming!

One month! Are there camping sites around Niagara-on-the-Lake? I've never been.... looking to arrive the afternoon of the 29th. Thinking about checking out the Jackson-Triggs winery that night.

Alrighty, so here I am semi-last minute with tickets in hand and I can't find one room online anywhere for the night. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any places not advertised online? A suggested place to pitch a tent? A kind Niagara-on-the-Laker that wouldn't mind a tent on their yard? Anything? Bueller....? Bueller....?

HALP!

Are you willing to take a hotel in St. Catharines? It's a half hour drive into NOTL, but you should be able to find something.

My understanding is that there will be park and ride locations since parking in NOTL is next to nil. I'd be willing to bet there will be park and ride from somewhere in St. Catharines.

Word is there will be parking at the following locations with shuttle buses taking people to/from the event:
-NOTL airport
-Farms near the airport (this may be a good spot to camp)
-Niagara College
-Brock University

Speaking with a friend who is from NOTL, he suspects people will be offering up their driveways to people to park for a few bucks. A friend and I are taking my old man's camper - it's one of those small ones that plops in the back of a pickup truck - and we will figure something out when we're there. My friend is a firefighter so we're going to try to smooth-talk one of the stations in to letting us hang for the night. NOTL is a community that would HATE having this event there, so I think it will be well-organized to keep parking and getting to/from the show simple for everyone. In any case, surviving the inevitable shitshow that will likely ensue is part of the fun - I guess.

When we roll in, we will be checking things out from the airport onwards - I really don't think it will be a big problem. If you can get a pickup truck, pitching a tent in the bed is the best option. All you need to do is find a place to park for the night. Depending on the price of a parking ticket in the area, it might be worth it to just pay in to the local NOTL bylaw team.

If you really want to get creative, check out the hennesee hammock. I have one of these, and it would be a perfect stealth-camping device for you. Very comfortable and packs small. All you need is 2 trees to set it up, and if you found a mildly-wooded area and kept the lights out, nobody would ever know you were there.

If you PM me your cell number, I can send you a text to let you know where we end up. My plan is to arrive early, secure a good spot, and then hang out in the sunshine and toss a frisbee/whatever for a few hours before the show. This all after I run across to Lewiston for a Dogfish Head beer run, of course.
