I'm new to the whole BT thing so my experience with STG has been very, very limited but my experiences with bt.etree.org and bt.easytree.org have been very good. Unfortunately there isn't a ton of Hip there. I was able to get the Edmonton Club show from etree, and I've been downloading stuff by Wilco, Radiohead, Los Lobos and Dylan from both.....

Yup, I can't imagine what happened to keep it offline for weeks, but hopefully they can get their shit together.

When I am able to get in, I see hundreds of newly posted shows, so clearly somebody somewhere on earth is able to access the site at any given moment...but it seems like there's narrow "windows" when you can get in that shift around...

Anybody getting onto STG ? It was working fine for me the other day, then my comp crashed, and now I get this message every visit. Any advice/responses would be appreciated . :thumb:

I have been using it for two days straight, but I don't think people are getting in because there haven't been any new threads in a long time. Since last night only 1 new post has been added. I don't want to log out and try and get back in because I doubt I will be able to...it seems like it's working fine, but people like you just can't get in. I don't understand that.

Anyway, you're not missing much in terms of torrents...I've been sitting in the torrent forum hitting "refresh" every couple of hours and there's no action at all.

CanuckCourage... I'm in the same boat as you are right now.

This can't be good for business.

I think because it's now been down for at least a month (I got home three weeks ago and it had been off for days) a lot of people have given up. It will probably take months, maybe even until 2005 for the level of activity we once saw to resume.

During the few days when it has been up, fewer torrents are posted than ever before...people just aren't hard-core about checking up on it anymore. If the school year starts in September and it still isn't up and running for good, a lot of younger people will completely lost track of it for a while.

So you're right, it's bad for business, but it's also bad for all of us!

Much like what the baseball strike did to small market teams.

I know what you mean, they had such a strong membership, i'm sure 90% are still trying to get on . Really hope it doesn't fold, it's gotta be 3 weeks since it's been down, if not more, that site is/was wicked.

STG has a homepage now, but is still down, at least we know it's still gonna be around. Miss that place.

It's actually pretty incredible when you think about it. What could possibly go wrong with a webpage or database that takes six weeks (and counting) to fix?? You can build one from the ground up in less time! I don't understand these things anyway, but this one's a noodle-scratcher for sure.

They could also communicate to the fans/users as to what the problem is, and why it is taking so long. Letting people know what's going on would keep them interested, and help the site maintain it's life when it does return.
