I'm finally fully recovered from Sunday's debauchery to post.
Left Edmonton at 9 am, it poured rain the whole way to Cowtown, once I hit the 4th ave flyover it stopped. Checked in at the Hotel 5 at noon, and proceeded to drink some cheapies and eat a monster of a meal so I didn't have to eat once inside.
Hit the Fort about 2:30, got right in, and hit the beer gardens til the Spades played. Then ran over to catch some Stars on the main stage, as soon as that was over it was back to the beer gardens at the TD stage. I did not wait in line ofr beer once in this location, which was a bonus. Watched some Cadence Weapon, not bad, his DJ was scratchin like a mad man. I don't really dig Hip Hop, but seeing this guy live was much better than expected.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned how F'ing great the New Pornographers were, their set was excellent and very well attended for being on the side stage during Matt Good. I saw Matt the night before here at the Jube so no need to see him on the mainstage.
Pounded more beer, and as soon as the Hip hit the stage I went from the very back of the crowd to the very front in the time it took to play Ocean.
Now I did not PUSH my way up there, I slipped and slided through the crowd, saying "excuse me, I am going to the front, I am not going to stop right in front of you"
That was met with a variety of responses ranging from "no problem" to "your an F'ing A-hole", I even got punched in the back of the head. Did I care? NO! I kpet going, got to the barricade and planted myself there, right between Gord and Paul.
During the show a guy behind me, was trying to grab the guy in front of me in order to pull himself past me, which caused that guy to trun around and start throwing punches, then the guy behind me started throwing punches. Security came over and tried to calm these guys down, turned out the Security guy recognized me from growing up in Red Deer, hilarious.
Anyway those guys calmed down and I was able to enjoy the rest of the show. My little brother (a huge guy at the front wearing a blue shirt) managed to get the setlist fromt he stage but he hasn't taken a photo of it yet. Once he does I'll post it here!
PRetty much a greatest hits show, but I didn't mind, the last time I saw the boys outside was at the very last Roadside in Camrose, so it was a treat just to be outdoors again.
Wish I was going to Pemberton.
