At the Velvet Elvis which unfortunately in Oshawa now is the only main rock bar and isnt that big but whatever, the main hip afterparty of the local fans and musicians is happening here. so! from inside tipsters what is happening is the Constantines will be going to the Velvet Elvis after the Hip concert! its on king st, hwy 2 in oshawa for anyone coming through town!
loook forward to seeing and meeting some of you then!

I'm psyched beyond belief. 1st Hip show for me, just counting the minutes until we head out.

Good show but not the greatest I have seen.
It was my third show but Fort York (June 24th) was way more memorable for me.
I would liked to have heared some more of the old stuff.
The crowd seemed really into it. Most weere standing for the entire show. I wss really hoping that the Hip would do a second encore but I guess everyone is programmed to leave after the third song of the first encore....too bad!
Good time at the Thirsty Monk - place was packed!
Gotta wait now for the Boston show now!

 Yep, that would be me! I left during Blow. I wanted to beat the crowd to the highway.

Okay, first of all, the Constantines were awesome. I'm really glad I caught their set.

Secondly, what a nice rink! It reminded me of the Halifax Metro Centre. Small and cozy.

Thirdly, nice solid show by the Hip. I always try to figure out why I like these guys so much. I think its because their shows always make me smile and laugh, and I can't say that I do that at any other concert.

One thing I noticed about Meridian tonight....while Gord is doing his microphone stand rant (tonight he actually slept against it for what seemed like a full minute) the other guys are doing a kick-ass jam session. I normally miss it because I'm watching what Gord is doing. But tonight I tried to pay attention to the other guys.

I was kind of hoping for Fiddlers tonight, so I was a little disappointed that they didn't play it. Hopefully they'll bring it out in Toronto. But hearing LTR again was also not too shabby.

Solid show, but nothing spectacular...except for "100M" which featured a *ridiculous* mid-song jam/rant ("Some dance to remember; I dance to forget!") AND snippets of both "Walking on the Moon" by the Police and a Peter Frampton song whose name I don't know. The band seemed really into it tonight; Robbie was yucking it up the entire show.

One minor annoyance: I got the "sit yo ass down!" twice tonight from the people behind me, during "Rink" and during the Bowie song. I just find it ironic: I've been to Hip shows where I've had drunken crowdsurfers fall on my head, yet I'm the one getting yelled at because I'm standing up? I could understand if I were being obnoxious or disruptive or whatever...but I wasn't. I was just standing there. *sigh* Anyway, good times tonight. See y'all Friday in Ottawa.
