alright, ii'm running azureus now and i've got my torrent made and everything, i've gone through the steps layed out in the faq about seeding a torrent but i'm still having problems, it's telling me i have a "nat" error and i'm not the sharpest pencil in the box when it comes to computers so i've got no clue as to how to go about fixing this
i was told to open/forward requests through ports 6881 to 6889 but i've got no clue as to how i should do this
i'm using windows xp, with the windows security centre firewall (i've tried turning it off and it dosn't make a difference)
so please if someone could help me out it would be great, i'd love to start sharring some shows with everyone
All right folks I need some help with seeding torrents

From the Azureus menu, go to tools > options. Under "connections" you should enter 6881 as your TCP Incoming Listening Port.
Better yet, try tools>configuration wizard, and follow the prompts.
Next, click start>control panel>network and internet connections>windows firewall. Click on the "exceptions" tab, then click on the "add programs" button and add Azureus.
You should also "open" port 6881 inside Windows Firewall. From the same "exceptions" tab, click "add port" and add port 6881.
This should work but I'm not really sure; I use Norton Internet Security 2005 and have my Windows Firewall disabled.

i've already gone through all those steps and still no luck, maybe i'll try downlaoding another bit torrent program and see if that works
is there any chance this is happening because of low space on my hard drive?, i've got less then 2gig left and keep getting warnings about low space (i remember when we first got a hard drive with a gig and it seemed as though we would never fill up all that space, and just yesterday i ordered a 250gig external hard drive wow)
thanks everyone and i really appriciate your help

If you haven't already, why don't you try downloading a torrent that's already on the site. If you see activity (that the torrent is downloading) then you know that Azureus is working and the issue may be with your torrent.
Is your torrent file in the same folder as the audio tracks and NFO text file? If it isn't, move it there and try again.
Double check the files you made when you made the torrent to make sure everything looks okay. I screwed up my first torrent because after I made it, I corrected a capitilization error in the NFO text. I kept getting an error and finally realized what I had done. I remade the torrent and it worked like a charm.
This is from the SourceForge Wiki:
Once you get your ports straightened out, I think you'll find Azureus to be much more intuitive than it seems. Good luck.

For more information, here's the complete Azureus Users GuideSourceForge Wiki wrote: NAT
This is short for Network Address Translation. This means that the Network, (which consists of any and all hardware you have connected up together, such as your router and your computer) needs to Translate the IP address of your router (which has it's own IP address) to and from the IP address of your computer (which also has it's own, _different_ IP address). In simpler terms, it's sort of like mail forwarding. The router is there to help protect you from what it thinks is unwanted traffic, it is sort of like the Post Office. Inside the router, the port forwarding instructions are like telling the postman to redirect your mail to a different address. So the original address from the outside world (WAN, or Wider Area Network) is the IP address of your router, that's what the postman sees on the labels of parcels and letters. Then the postman redirects your mail according to the instructions you gave, to your ACTUAL address, which is the real local IP address of your computer, in the LAN (Local Area Network). See below for how to find out what the actual IP of your computer is on Mac OS X. So when you get the error message *NAT Error*, this means that your router is NOT translating the IP address from your computer to and from the outside world IP address of your router. And this is why no information or downloads can occur until this is sorted out, because information can not pass between your computer and the router, and thus cannot pass to and from the outside world of the internet. Please see PortForwarding for more information about this.
PortForwarding
You may be thinking, "But I did all this already! It was all working beautifully before, and now that I installed a new version of Azureus I'm back to the yellow smilies and NAT error!"* Well, if this is indeed the case, try going to: *Plugins->UPnP* UPnP is short for Universal Plug and Play, it is a feature that works with some compatible routers to open the required ports automatically. However, some routers, even if they are compatible with UPnP, have problems with this. *So untick the box that says Enable UPnP and click Save at the bottom left of the Azureus window. Then you may wait awhile and see if there is any improvement.
If you are in a rush, you can stop all your torrents, go to File>Configuration Wizard and test your TCP listen port there. If you are _still_ getting NAT error, then please continue down the rest of this page. If you get ....OK! then there is nothing more you need do with ports for now.![]()
Anyway, the only time you will notice the ports is when they are closed, and won't allow any information to travel. This is the situation when you get those error messages like "NAT Error", or similar. Ports are mostly closed by firewalls, and routers.
!NAT - Network Address Translation
So when you get the error message "NAT Error", this means that your router is NOT translating the IP address from your computer to and from the outside world IP address of your router. And this is why no information or downloads can occur until this is sorted out, because information can not pass between your computer and the router, and thus cannot pass to and from the outside world of the internet.
Sorry if this is confusing! I'm doing the best I can, it's a tricky subject. Hopefully the diagram below will demonstrate why port forwarding is needed and how it works..WhatIsNat might help too.
Once you get your ports straightened out, I think you'll find Azureus to be much more intuitive than it seems. Good luck.

The *txt file should be okay. In "torrent-speak", the NFO means "info" and is merely a text file with recordinig details, setlist, comments, etc. Notepad id teh most commonly used program but I've sen NFOs created in MS Word as well.
Like I said, I don't use the MS firewall, so if anyone here does use it, they may be able to offer a solution that only they would know. If you're interested in working around the MS firewall, you can download a fully functional 15 day trial of Norton Internet Security 2005. It takes a little time to install and configure, but the real beauty is that when Azureus "attempts" to send or receive bits for the first time, the program will notifya you with the option to "always allow" or "automatically configure". NIS 2005 is listed at $69.95, but most retailers offer rebates from $20 to $30.
It's possible that your ISP has blacklisted port 6881 to interfere with file-sharing programs. Try entering a different port number and see what happens. You may still need to "open" the new port number in your firewall properties.
